16/05/19: BBC South Today presents a segment on Sleepio as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, featuring Sleepio graduate, Peter Kent; clinical advocate, Dr Ian Wood; and Sleepio co-founder, Professor Colin Espie. Sleepio is a digital sleep improvement programme based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques., and is currently available for free on the NHS in London and the Thames Valley region.
Insomnia has been implicated as both a cause and effect of various mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety. Sleepio has been shown to have a clinical impact when it comes to treating the night-time symptoms of poor sleep, as well as improving daytime problems in functional health, psychological wellbeing, work productivity and overall quality of life (JAMA Psychiatry, 2018).
