STORYLINE:
A light and flaky blanket of snow covered the capital of Japan on Monday, as people in Tokyo continued shopping and went on with daily life in the winter weather.
Travel disruption is expected in the city and the surrounding Kanto region due to the weather.
Shoppers brought umbrellas and dressed for the cold weather, with many visitors flocking to Sensoji Temple in Tokyo.
Visitors took photos in the snow in Tokyo's traditional Asakusa district, as Japan's weather agency issued a warning of heavy snow.
