The Motherland Calls The Motherland It is also known as  Mamaev Monument ". It is a statue on the Mamayev Kurgan plateau overlooking the city of Volgograd in Russia, commemorating the Battle of Stalingrad, which took place between 1942 and 1943 between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany.

When the monument was unveiled in 1967, it was the tallest sculpture in the world, standing 85 meters tall from the tip of the sword to the lowest base. The sculpture's body is 52 meters tall, and the sword is 33 meters long. From the bottom to the top of the statue, 200 steps representing the 200 days of battle were built. Yevgeny Vucic was the statue's primary sculptor (the famous Russian sculptor of Serbian descent ). Engineering construction presented a significant challenge for structural engineer Nikolai Nikitin. The statue's image appears on the current flag and coat of arms of the Volgograd Oblast, a Russian Federation entity.
