HTML Datalist and Select: Difference between Datalist and Select Elements in HTML

The datalist element provides suggestions whereas the select element asks the user to select a value from the available list. In case of datalist, user has the freedom to enter values that is not in the list. But select does not allow the user to enter a value outside the list.
