Gameplay of the hidden/secret/bonus character Mokap in PS2 version of Midway’s/Netherrealm’s Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance.
And finally, it’s time for the greatest character of them all. Mokap.
Yeah, as if it wasn’t apparently extremely apparent that Midway was fucking around in this game, they decided to make a guy in a motion-capture suit one of its hidden characters. He is basically the exact same as Blaze was; a chimera character who takes moves from other characters in the game, and is simply supposed to be a bonus for finishing Quest Mode. The funny thing is, the game doesn’t actually tell you about his existence, if I recall correctly. He’s accessed in a similar way to play, except you highlight Cyrax instead of Raiden, then hold down and press the X button.
Mokap is the very definition of a joke character, and he sums up the “screwing around” nature that’s omnipresent in this game. Hell, he’s basically just a modified version of Blaze, even sharing two of the same special moves. It’s one big attempt to try and find out what they actually want to do with series and the direction they want it to go in. And, truth be told, I’m glad they did it as it made the next game absolutely brilliant, allowing them to refine and choose what they wanted to do in the sequel.
And we finally get to see said next game, as next time I move onto this game’s fantastic sequel, Mortal Kombat Deception. See you then.
