Banana peals are slow worm food, the flesh is fast food, let's test how fast freezing them can speed up the transformation to organic fertilizer in the form of worm castings for your garden! We'll also see how they did with the last feeding & find out why a smaller worm bin might be perfect for your start into vermicomposting!
This bin is 61days old & is about 50% worm castings and 50% bedding. The Autumn color food scraps we put in are all gone except one main ingredient that make take a while to be fully turned into castings. Join me as I dig up the last feeding zone, find a wormball and check on the moisture to help decide if it is time to take of the plastic on top.
Epigeic worms or composting worms are fascinating natural composters & fertilizers that are in most homesteaders bag of tricks to make free organic fertilizer & soil amendments as well as fishing bait.
