For those who are mostly interested in my MechWarrior Online content, I've been active in the Doom community a lot longer, and my playthrough here is mostly aimed at them. I don't really expect the MWO community to watch this series.
Been looking forward to Sigil's release for a good five or six months now, and here it is. Already just the first map shows that this set of maps has some of the same trends as Double-Impact, my favourite Doom 1 map-set, such as difficulty through limited resources and crafting difficult encounters using interesting situations rather than just adding more enemies. Hopefully this trend continues, as I'm really liking it so far.
The game shipped with two soundtracks, a MIDI soundtrack by James Paddock and an mp3 soundtrack by Buckethead. I will be playing with the MIDI soundtrack to fit the original game better. As with my other playthroughs, I'm doing full 100% kills and secrets on ultra-violence difficulty. I'm still figuring out some recording quirks; it's been a long while since I've seriously recorded a Doom playthrough, and I'm running into various issues trying with both OBS and Shadowplay, but hopefully nothing that takes away from the game.
Doom: Sigil E5M1 - "Baphomet's Demesne"
Sigil is a new megawad by Doom co-creator John Romero to celebrate Doom's 25th anniversary, taking its place alongside the original Ultimate Doom episodes as episode 5. It features nine brand new single-player/coop levels and nine deathmatch levels. I'm playing Sigil v1.0 on Ultra-Violence difficulty on the GZDoom source port.
