I wanted to cover this as once again Wayne Goss on his YouTube channel is sharing his exfoliating hacks and experiences and is part of an alarming rise in the trend of at home high strength chemical peels. I want to help you know if your overexfoliating your skin and some of the risks of over exfoliating.

Wayne Goss is not alone in using back to back high strength chemical peels as part of his at home skincare routine, this is a growing trends in the skincare world and one which is taking off in 2022. There is nothing wring with chemical peels, providing you choose the right ones for your skin type and use them in accordance with the instructions or under the supervision of a dermatologist pro professional.

The risk of over exfoliating the skin comes when you use these chemical peels too frequently and back to back as a core part of your skin care routine, rather than a standalone treatment.

Over exfoliating the skin can actually reverse some of the gains you have seen with your skincare routine and lead to dull skin, hyperpigmentation, increase in lines an wrinkles and breakouts. It can impart the barrier function of the skin which can lead to long term skin issues and accelerated ageing in the skin.
