Monarch butterfly caterpillar hatches from egg:
Monarch butterflies lay their eggs on swan plant (milkweed plant), mainly on the underside of the leaf. The size of the eggs is merely about the size of a pinhead. The colour of the eggs is white or yellow with characterised longitudinal ridges that run from the tip to the base.
