Hi Neighbors,
The iconic Marilyn Monroe house has been saved!!!! Marilyn Monroe's house, located on Helena Drive in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles, is famously known as the last residence of the iconic actress. It is more than just a piece of real estate; it is a significant part of Hollywood history. Purchased in February 1962, just months before her tragic death in August of that same year. It was the only property Monroe ever owned independently.
The Spanish-style house, built in 1929, is nestled in a quiet, affluent neighborhood and features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a lush garden with a kidney shaped swimming pool. Many that knew Marilyn Monroe personally explained it represented Monroe's desire for stability and privacy, providing a sanctuary away from the public eye and the pressures of her career.
Despite various ownership changes over the years, the home remains a point of interest for Monroe fans and history enthusiasts, symbolizing both her glamorous life and the poignant end of an era.
Marilyn Monroe‘s house in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood was approved in its historical cultural monument nomination by the Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday, a designation which is intended to help protect the landmark from demolition, but not everyone is pleased with this decision.
Owners Milstein and her husband, reality TV producer Roy Bank, bought the house last year for $8.35 million and planned to demolish it to expand their property next door. They waged a year-long battle to stop the historical designation, which they said would lead to more nuisance visitors. The owners have sued the city. In the suit, the owners say that the house has been substantially altered and that there is no evidence remaining from the time when Monroe lived there, so they contend it does not meet the criteria for a historic cultural monument.
With so much controversy still surrounding this home, this is not that last we’ll hear about Marilyn Monroe’s home. For now Marilyn Monroe Residence in Brentwood is a Historic-Cultural Monument, stay tuned for updates!
Cheers, John
