The adidas Stycon BOA durability test was a fun exercise in understanding laceless shoe technology.
As a foot doctor I look at shoes for tennis a bit differently as I focus more on what foot types benefit from these shoes as well as the shoe's functional attributes
The adidas Stycon BOA is a first for tennis shoe tech, offering a much different feel though the forefoot, midfoot, and rearfoot. The adidas Stycon BOA is a laceless shoe with no tongue and a 3 layer fit which are all firsts for this sector of shoes. I was skeptical of this tennis shoe design but was pleasantly surprised when play testing them on the tennis court during a tennis match
Tennis shoe teardowns are a great way to experience the tennis shoe from the inside out- once you can see all the layers of a tennis shoe and how they work together you can understand how and why a tennis shoe performs the way it does
