Millions of people across the United States are living with mental distress. Black people live with higher rates of emotional distress than their white counterparts due to socioeconomic disparities. Michael Taylor joined Laverne McGee on "BNC Live" to talk about the stereotypes that exist about the Black community. Taylor is the author of "Shattering Black Male Stereotypes: Eradicating The 10 Most Destructive Media Generated Illusions About Black Men." One of the stereotypes is that Black men are angry and violent and Taylor said this contributes to police violence. "It's important for us to know that the impact that society has on showcasing those negative images creates and perpetuates those negative stereotypes."
