The SIQAF project includes the employer organisations EuropeActive and the European Confederation of Outdoor Employers (EC-OE) and took the active leisure sector qualification framework (SQF) through the stages of referencing to the National Qualifications Framework (NQFs) to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). Two European qualifications in Personal Training and Outdoor Animator were developed through this project.

EuropeActive is coordinating closely with other initiatives in this area, and with independent experts and policy officers from DG EMPL. The project looked at all of the instruments, processes and procedures needed to ensure the outcome is transparent and quality-assured through the active leisure sector skills council.
The outcomes of the SIQAF project are now being further developed and implemented through EuropeActive’s new BLUEPRINT project. Of particular focus will be the resourcing of the Sector Skills Alliance for Active Leisure, the formalisation of the Active Leisure Sector Qualification Framework and the concept of a European Awarding Organisation.
