Brigadier Rajendra Singh, the then Chief of Jammu and Kashmir State Forces was a martyr in Indo-Pak 1947 War. Brigadier Rajendra Singh was the first recipient of Maha Vir Chakra of Independent India, when he was awarded the honor posthumously by the then Army Chief Field Marshal K.M. Carriappa.
