Fly agaric are a beautiful, photogenic mushrooms with their distinctive red cap, white scales and white stems.
However, these fungi are toxic and have hallucinogenic properties.
Also known as fairy tale toadstool
They are found growing amounts Silver Birch in autumn. They form a symbiotic relationship with the silver birch by wrapping their mycelium around the roots and supply them with nutrients taken from the soil. In exchange, the fungus receives sugars produced by the trees.
