Swimwear brand Kooey Australia made a three-pronged assault on the U.S. market with its first-ever runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami.

Kooey revealed 40 looks from its 2012 collection, dubbed Birds of a Feather, which was inspired by Australia's native birds and featured a range of brightly colored tankinis, monokinis, bikinis, sheer slips and full body options.

Kooey director and designer Nikki Silverthorne said this was part of a wider push into the US market, with the brand also showing its collection to buyers at SwimShow 2012 in Miami and enlisting as the official swimwear sponsor for the 2011 Miss Teen USA Pageant.
