Join me, Finnley the Dolphin, as I take you on another exciting edition of "Finnley's Audio Adventures"! Today, I'm thrilled to share with you a 45rpm record promoting the 1979 horror film "The Evictors" from American International Pictures.
On side A, you'll find two cuts - a 60-second promo and a 30-second promo - that are sure to intrigue you about the film. Flip the record over to side B, and you'll notice that it's blank and unetched, making this vinyl piece even more unique and special.
American International Pictures was renowned for their low-budget sci-fi and horror movies, producing iconic films like Roger Corman and Vincent Price's adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe's works. As they catered to teenage audiences and conducted focus group studies, they recognized changing trends and began producing beach party movies and spy spoof films in the mid-1960s. "The Evictors" was among their last productions before the company was merged into Filmways in 1980 and eventually into MGM.
The film features three noteworthy actors: Vic Morrow, who unfortunately was tragically killed during the filming of "Twilight Zone: The Movie," Jessica Harper, who reprised the role of Janet Majors (Janet Weiss) from "Rocky Horror Picture Show" in "Shock Treatment" and has appeared in numerous TV shows, and Sue Ane Langdon, who played the role of Esther Bilchik in "UHF" and was widely recognized for her acting skills.
So, get ready for a splash of humor and a whole ocean of weirdness with "Finnley's Audio Adventures" as we dive deep into this rare and fascinating record from American International Pictures. Who knows what record I'll surface next? Stay tuned to find out!
