Decisions! Why is buying a Dell computer such a pain in the rear? We needed a new, faster, larger VIDEO EDITING computer. I don't really game anymore, so I didn't originally think Alienware would be in the running, but it definitely belonged there. YES, I KNOW you should have a desktop workstation with a Xeon processor and ECC RAM to avoid rendering errors. But honestly, I used a laptop i7 with cheap RAM for three years and it rarely crashed. I'm going with that experience for now. I thought I wanted a Dell Precision, but they couldn't sell me on it. Dell refused to communicate the benefits of the Precision via chat, email, or Twitter. BIG marketing failure, Michael Dell. I was so frustrated I almost bought a Lenovo. Looked at the Dell XPS 17 versus the Dell Precision 5540 17" (I think the XPS and Precision are essentially the same darn computer) versus the Alienware m17. TL/DR: Went with the Alienware because of the price, specs (2 TB SSD for under $2000!), and well explained cooling.
