Don’t over-tighten the ligature on your saxophone. As with most things to do with ligatures it’s not so much the difference it will make to your sound but rather the difference it makes to the feel. Tone production isn’t so comfortable or as easy when the ligature pressure is ratcheted up to 11. Try to tighten the ligature just enough to prevent the reed drifting off centre at all and that will be quite sufficient. For more see:
