*update* 7/9/2014: I no longer use this setup since my BeerTender died. I wanted more variety and since my CO2 tank was taking up space with my BeerTender, I opted to go with a larger option. I also had problems with the 5L minikegs giving a metallic taste (rusted/oxidized tin) in my beer. See my video on using Tap-a-Draft in a kegerator. That is my current setup which I am very happy with (and I get 5 different choices for myself and guests, even soda).
original post:
I got this BeerTender kegerator on craigslist for $40. I bought the Edgestar Accessory Kit on amazon.com for $75 and used my own drill and phillips screwdriver. (total price = $115) If you get the Edgestar kit and kegerator online it's $230+shipping, so the Beertender is way cheaper since it's much more common to find a used one. Why? Because it only takes Heineken and Newcastle kegs out of the box, so people get tired of drinking the same beer and put it on craigslist= your benefit because with this video you can easily convert it to work with all 5L kegs, including Homebrew! Go to your local brewery, fill a growler and pour it into an empty 5L keg to have it on tap for up to a month! Works with soda too.
