As part of Reconciliation Week 2016 on Monday 30 May at Salvation Army Hall in Sunshine the BMIN presented Faith, Hope and Reconciliation Forum
This event explored the role that faith communities can play in the process of reconciliation.
Uncle Bill from the Wurundjeri Tribe Land and Compensation and Cultural Heritage Council performed Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country.
Pastor Tony Riches from the Melbourne Indigenous Church and Tony Le-Nguyen from the Quang Minh Buddhist Temple shared their perspectives on how their faith communities have contributed to the joint process of healing and reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people
The event attracted over 50 people, including members of Baha'i, Jewish and multiple Christian congregations. Pastor Riches brought large group of Aboriginal people from the Melbourne Indigenous Church.
The roundtable discussion was followed lunch prepared and blessed by Torres Strait Islander Elder Uncle Phil Ahawang.
