The Class 9F 2-10-0 Freight Locomotives designed for British Railways by Robert Riddles proved highly successful. They were, however, used for only a short period of time from their introduction in 1954 to their replacement with diesels only a decade later. No 92220 Evening Star has acheived cult status as the last steam locomotive built for BR - the final steam loco to emerge from Brunel's Swindon Works.
