Where are the doctors in the issue of obesity? This question has led to some innovative ideas to drastically reduce and move toward the elimination of obesity through physician, patient, community relationships. I am an Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Grand Traverse Ophthalmology Clinic where I have practiced since 1994. I grew up on the shores of Lake Superior in Wisconsin. After attending Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, I received an M.D. from the University of South Dakota, completed an Ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital and a Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. I have a passion for improving the health of our communities and believe that every individual plays a critical role in achieving the Quadruple Aim of Improved Patient Experience, Improved Outcomes, Decreased Cost and Increasing the joy of practicing medicine. I serve as the President of the Northern Physicians Organization CIN and have been on the NPO Board of Directors for many years. My world view is that EVERY individual is special, wonderfully and beautifully made by our Creator, and is of great value to our world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
