To visit this Snaefellsnes Peninsula is a venture into the old times. The South side where farming and fishing were the main industries and weather the opponent. Far way from the busy Captol Things were difficult.
History here tells about volcanic eruptions and Jules Verne based his novel "Journey to the center of the Earth" on a volcano placed at the peak of the peninsula. The Norse had several whaling stations there and man hunted walruses to extinction.
There is a lot to be seen here so if you do visit make good time. You´ll need that.
