The Vajdahunyad Castle is one of the most popular landmarks in Budapest, right next to the City Park. It is not a real castle: it was built in the 19th century to commemorate the thousand-year-old Hungarian architecture by recalling motifs of important buildings. Originally, it was made out of cardboard and wood, but as it became popular, they decided to rebuild it of lasting materials in the first decade of the 20th century; this is the version we see today.
