In few places are the sheer violence of the Lake Missoula Flood's titanic power more apparent than in the scablands of eastern Washington. Wherever the floods went, the landscape was sundered, leaving numerous lakes and torn chunks of earth in its wake. All of the soil in its path was stripped from eastern Washington, and brought to the valley south of Portland.
