HOW TO TRANSITION FOODS👇
Switching to any new dog food, or treat/chew, can cause dogs loose stool/GI upset from the introduction of novel ingredients👇
***ESPECIALLY if switching from a more processed food (ie kibble) to a fresher food (ie cooked/raw)
🥣 Week 1: 75% current food, 25% new food
🥣 Week 2: 50% current food, 50% new food
🥣 Week 3: 25% current food, 75% new food
🥣 Week 4: 0% current food, 100% new food
Supplements I use to help relieve “detox” symptoms (usually only 1-2 at most, not all at once):
✔️ Raw goat kefir or goat milk
✔️ Slippery elm
✔️ Saccharomyces boulardii
✔️ Live probiotic/digestive enzyme
✔️ Pumpkin (pure)
✔️ Bone broth (no salt)
✔️ Full spectrum CBD (anti-inflammatory)
TREATS: During a transition, I stop all treats/chews/table scraps for dogs with sensitive digestive systems
COLD TURKEY 🦃: Many dogs, especially younger or fresh fed dogs, can do a cold Turkey overnight switch to a new diet. But if you’re not sure, or your dog has a sensitive tummy - I find a slower gradual switch is more gentle/forgiving
