[Craig] Hi. My name is Dr. Craig Jonov and I'm at the Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery in Lynnwood, Washington, just north of Seattle. I've been answering questions in relation to a tummy tuck. The question is how much weight one can expect to lose when a tummy tuck is completed.
We actually try not to counsel patients on weight loss when we're going to do a tummy tuck because it's more about body contouring and changing the outcome from hopefully what weight has been lost previously, because of now the redundant tissue or the areas that have changed in relation to our final outcome. The tummy tuck, you may lose some weight because there's going to be removal of some excess skin and some fat tissue, but we tend to go more about contour. If there is considerable weight loss, we recommend approximately about a 10% weight loss that they would want to do afterwards to greatly enhance their result, to give them the best possible results available.
