TL:DR
How to get your camera to face detect then focus on other things automatically without user intervention
Auto Focus Settings
Face Tracking
Re Focus on something in scene and not stay locked onto face (AF Tracking Sensitivity)
Auto focus Speed
I’ve been messing with autofocus settings for the Nikon z50 but this will apply to the Nikon z6, z7, and D780 directly as well as other cameras that allow the tweaking of these settings. Your mileage may vary! The Idea is to figure out what settings work best for a Vlog, review, and/or stationary camera setups.
I ‘m personally looking for the best settings that allow for AF face detection but have the ability to move focus quickly to something else in the frame without having to select it via moving the focus point or selecting it on the touch screen. I believe I have found the settings that are the most effective but I used the most extreme version to test… My personal settings with tweaks will come in a later video.
It appears there is even a bit of a technique that works better than others…
