VIDEO SCRIPT:
What’s up guys, I was just rejected after interviewing with that recruiting company three times. But that’s ok, because honestly prepping for those interviews and going back and forth with the scheduling and all the middlemen in between the people who were actually conducting the interview was seriously eating up my time and left me exhausted despite not actually doing anything at all.
In the time that I’ve been away I’ve been binge reading Reverend Insanity like usual, and have blown through the rank 7 arc, rank 8 arc, first fate war, and am currently reading through his rebirth using Spring Autumn Cicada, which is, as far as I’m aware, the final time he uses it to go back in time.
I would say each cultivation arc has a different tone, between the mortal arcs: Qing Mao Mountain arc, the Traveling arc, the Shang Clan arc, The Northern Plains Tribal Arc, and the 88 true yang arc.
Zombie arc is frustrating for a lot of people, as it’s one of the first time that Fang Yuan severely loses, he’s no longer as handsome, and is probably in one of the most set back positions in the novel that is just salvageable enough for him to not initially use Spring Autumn Cicada to rewrite history.
Still, the zombie arc is good in and of itself and holds its own, but is QUITE different from the post sovereign immortal fetus arc, which pretty smoothly ties into what I’d like to title, the venerable inheritance arcs.
Before I get into the nitty gritty though, I’d like to politely ask you to gently press the like button for the Youtube algorithm. I’ve taken my first break from producing videos every week, and I can already see the loss in momentum in my subscriber growth. But that’s not what’s important really, personally I’d be completely satisfied with retaining my current audience and keeping everyone engaged, so with that being said, thanks for sticking with me, let’s get into it.
I think one of the charms of Reverend Insanity is the difference in tone of the various arcs. This is undoubtedly a result of the extreme length of webnovels, and could be attributed to either the Author’s growth as a writer or that it may be a necessity to keep the story fresh.
As epic as Fang Yuan’s ruthless nature and extreme killing intent in the first three arcs were, the scope of xianxia requires the topics and tone to ascend past the common sense and interests of mortals. One person’s death is significant to mortals like us, but the slaughter of a mortal clan is inconsequential and not newsworthy to the poorest immortal, who has much more pressing matters to occupy his time.
Within the context of the story, Immortals are shrewd people, and I imagine for most immortals who have recently passed a tribulation, they want to relax and enjoy their privileged status.
It’s rarely described in detail, as our main character is preoccupied with the fastest acquisition of power as possible, but when not preparing for tribulations, the average immortal’s life must be quite comfortable.
When Fang Yuan was still rank 5, he was able to sell some immortal materials in treasure yellow heaven for a handful of immortal essence stones. Just a single immortal essence stone was described to be worth countless primeval stones, I’m sure the conversation rate would be in the hundreds of thousands. And the non cultivating normal family’s cost of living was described very early one as just a handful of primeval stones a month at most, with most transactions being done in the fractional amount of a single primeval stone.
Why do I bring this up? Because discounting newly ascended immortals, the vast majority of immortals could afford the nicest mortal gu houses, and the most delicious foods and drinks.
Clearly, this does not consider teas, wines, and foods made with rank 8 immortal materials that are considered incomplete food path gu recipes, but at the mortal level, immortals can easily live in luxury and comfort, barring imminent tribulations.
It’s for these reasons that immortals are shrewd, and try to negotiate or flee over initiating combat, and when fighting, admit defeat before fighting to the death.
These behaviors are demonstrated and explicitly told in the text, and when considering their capability of comfort, it makes complete sense.
