Enjoy this short, minimalistic practice video of running SM Cath. (Scarlet Monastery Cathedral) AOE in one pull as a fully geared Mage in WoW Classic. See below for a timestamps, tips, tricks & insights!
Disclaimer: I didn't invent the technique for this run. This video is mostly a demo of the run I've recorded after a couple of tries to practice.
I learned the pull watching this video [ Ссылка ] from [ Ссылка ].
Please also keep in mind that this is the first video of this channel, and little to no effort was put into making it public.

Tips & Tricks:
- Clearing the first corridor & Power Leveling (not shown in the video)
If you plan on doing Power Leveling Service (10g per run including Armory on Alliance Sulfuron) with this run, you should clear the mobs in the first corridor so that the lower levels can stand at the end of the corridor, possibly waiting on the external window there, which is kind of a ~safe spot.
Be cautious however that it might make mobs buggy in case you need to leave the instance or reset the mobs.
Please note that sometimes, the lower level mobs might still die if they get in combat because of casters.
- Reaching the boss in the first place (not shown in the video)
As a level 60 character, getting into the cathedral is trivial, you can just walk through the instance, going around the mobs.
It's a tiny bit more tricky inside the cathedral, in particular the first few rows of mobs in front of Morgraine, which will aggro you if you walk through the center. As a mage, you can blink directly in between them without getting aggro.
If you do get aggro inside the cathedral, it's a bit risky but you can still save the day by continuing towards the boss and jump and the chandelier as seen in the video. Otherwise you can just get out of the instance to reset the mobs.
- Recovering from a failed pull, unlucky resist or a late jump during the AOE phase (not shown in the video)
In difficult times, you can always try your luck again by running again all around the instance exterior, in particular if you have cold snap available for doing another ice block for another AOE phase. It can work even if you don't have a lot of HP or mana.
- Talents / Build used (not shown in the video)
The general requirements are:
- Magic Absorption (to regen mana when resisting caster spell attacks)
- Elemental Precision
- Permafrost
- Improved Blizzard
- Cold Snap, Ice Block & Ice Barrier obviously
- NOT Frostbite
- Arctic Reach
- Most other frost talents for increased damage outputs
- Arcane Concentration
- Arcane resilience is a nice to have, feel free to experiment
Something along the lines of [ Ссылка ]
- Gear & Consumables Tips
- No consumables required, some potions recommended
- PvP Trinket not required, but strongly recommended
- Minor speed enchantment not required, but strongly recommended
F.A.Q:
- What happens with the boss on the chandelier?
Aggroing the boss from the chandelier aggroes all the mobs inside the cathedral, but then the boss resets after a few seconds (you can see it drops targeting).
That's when you can jump in and keep only the trash mobs aggro within a few seconds timeframe (if you wait longer than that they all reset as well).
- This looks too easy.
The tough part is:
- making a ~perfect pathing with all the mobs
- keeping shields up, being reactive to get out of slow effects
- not getting one-shot coming out of ice block
- and then the stairway hop during the final AOE phase :
- How long did it take to get it right?
Took a couple of hours of making silly mistakes.
Happy grinding!
