The boring and obvious thing to do in conversation is to be boring and obvious. And that will get you the boring and obvious result of NOTHING. Try to add some wrinkles to your conversation. A little extra effort to make her invest, or to make things emotionally relevant, or to show her that the interaction is somehow special... they all go a long way. Remember this... average conversations get you the result she gives to the 50th percentile of guys she meets. I.e. forgotten stranger. Do SOMETHING TO make it special!
