Almost 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross by Roman soldiers, because the Jewish religious leaders of the day wanted to get rid of Him. This video reveals the story as told by Matthew, one of His disciples, in the gospel of Matthew, chapters 27 and 28. For any who may doubt the existence of Jesus Christ as a historical figure, we would recommend reading up on non-Christian historical sources, such as those by Flavius Josephus, Pliny the Younger and Tactitus.
On the day Jesus Christ was crucified, the Roman governor Pontius Pilate interrogated Him and found Him innocent of the charges, but decided to have Him executed anyway, because he was afraid of losing his government job. After Jesus Christ was handed over to the Roman soldiers, He had to endure mockings and beatings, before been taken to be crucified at Golgotha (Place of the Skull), outside the city gates of Jerusalem. That afternoon, when Jesus Christ died, several strange and inexplicable things happened. That is when the Roman soldiers realised that Jesus Christ really was the Son of God!
Jesus was hurriedly buried in a nearby garden tomb, in time for the start of the special Passover Sabbath. There was no time for Him to receive a proper burial. A few days later, some women came to give Him the proper burial He deserved, but what they were to find would amaze them. An angel telling them the good news of Jesus’ victory over death, as the first-fruit of the resurrection to eternal life! The offer of eternal life is extended to all who choose follow Jesus. We echo this call and invite YOU to DISCOVER JESUS!
