(12 Jan 2012) ED SHEERAN IS THE KING OF BRIT NOMINATIONS
An all-star lineup of British talent turned out to hear the nominations for the 2012 Brit Awards at London's Savoy hotel on Thursday (12 JAN. 2012).
Yorkshire-born singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran leads the pack with four nominations. The 21 year old singer whose debut single "The A Team" dominated UK radio last year is nominated in the best male solo artist, British breakthrough act, best single and album categories.
Winner of last year's Critics Choice award Jessie J, ties with Adel, with three nominations. Both are competing for British female solo artist and British single, while Adel also get a nod in the Album category for "21."
Jessie J handed over the baton to this years' Critics Choice winner, Emeli Sande, who performed a track from her forthcoming album due out next month called "Our Version of Events."
The Scottish singer is up against Jessie J and Ed Sheeran for British breakthrough act.
Battling it out for best British group are music veterans Coldplay, who are up against festival favorites Kasabian and dance act Chase & Status.
International stars receiving nods include Bruno Mars, Jay Z/Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Foster The People, Nicki Minaj and new mum Beyonce.
The awards show will take place on Tuesday 21st February at the 02 Arena in London with performances from stars including Adele, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Florence + The Machine and Rihanna.
