9 September 2016: After 322 years of paper bank notes, the BoE takes its first step into the era of plastic with the introduction of the ‘polymer’ five pound note.
The New Fiver has the Queen on the front and wartime Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill on the reverse. It’s heatproof up to 90C and waterproof, but can shrink on contact with an iron!
