(26 May 2017) While G7 leaders are gathering in the small town of Taormina, Greenpeace and Oxfam activists are trying to send a message on climate change to the G7 nations.
The NGOs performed two stunts on the seafront of Giardini Naxos, the seaside holiday town that borders Taormina.
Taormina can't be reached by protesters or journalists as it has been sealed off for security reasons.
Both NGOs called upon the G7 leaders to respect the Paris agreement on climate change.
Greenpeace and Oxfam stressed that the Trump administration should stick to the commitment of limiting global warming below two degrees Celsius.
Oxfam is also urging G7 leaders to take action to tackle famines in South Sudan, Yemen, Somalia and Nigeria, by funding the UN's urgent appeal against hunger.
Lastly, NGOs are also calling for concrete steps to protect the rights of migrants.
