Hey guys! This vlog ended up being on the longer side due to the many things my friends and I did over the weekend at Dartmouth. However, I made sure to include the most fun and entertaining parts, so trust me when I say it's worth a watch! Feel free to watch it in parts, or all in one go if you'd like (do let me know in the comments if you do)! Grab a snack and a cozy blanket and join us as we relive our amazing weekend at Dartmouth!
~ Lengthier description ~
It was a crazy weekend full of events. Seb and I traveled all the way from Boston to New Hampshire to visit a high school friend of mine. We took part in Dartmouth's annual homecoming celebration where they have students run around a gigantic burning structure (tell me that's not cult behavior 👀). We managed to sneek in and run with them, although many took notice and called us out for it! Some even approached us and started hating on Harvard! However, it was all fun and games so no harm was done, though Harvard still remains on the top, hehe.
We also toured Dartmouth campus, walked through some fancy libraries, and looked at some newer buildings! Jairo (my friend who hosted us over the weekend) also took us to some fraternety houses that night. We weren't exactly sure what to expect, but we were curious. Once there, we got rejected from one frat because they were at capacity, but we managed to get into another one. However, it was not what we were expecting. There was alcohol everywhere, the air was humid and sticky, and not much was going on. Since none of us drank alcohol or felt comfortable in that scene, we decided to leave and just go home and rest. We didn't need to drink or party to have fun anyways! :)
The following day we had some breakfast and tried Dartmouth's famous FOCO cookies! Freshly made and very yummy! Then we headed to Dartmouth's football stadium for the big event: Harvard vs. Dartmouth homecoming football game! Of course, Harvard took the W 😌, but Dartmouth definitely put up a fight.
Jairo also took us to explore the Dartmouth forest at night, scary! But thanks to the small amount of pollution at Dartmouth we were able to witness a very beautiful starry night sky in the Bema. A unique experience for someone like me who is used to city life! After this, Jairo took us to a scary spot in the forest where a weird statue of a man lurks behind some bushes. In complete darkness, this was pretty scary, but in the end we just ended up taking pics with the statue :).
In the end, we stayed up until 3am to catch the next shuttle back to Boston, and we arrive home at around 7am! Although we were extremely exhausted, the trip was so worth it. Thank you Jairo for being a great host and to Dartmouth for giving us such a fun and unique weekend!
