After riding the KKH from China to Pakistan (see my other vids), in 2009 we rode through the Buddhist lands of Ladakh and Spiti in northern India. We flew into Leh in late September, Steve with his proven Roberts, me on my ex-KKH hack, rebuilt from the cranks up. Manali-Leh is popular with cyclists, but we saw none as we were late in the season, taking a chance with the tent camps still being open as well as the first snows. We figured the colder it was the less water we'd need to carry and the greater the air density! But for me especially it was a tough ride above 4500m and as you'll see we didn't pedal every mile.
This film covers Leh to Gramphoo, the turn-off for Kunzum La and the Spiti Valley. That film will be up one of these days. You'll see the sync goes out in places no matter what I tried; iMovie users will know all about that...
