I recently suffered a failure in the multiair unit in my 11/2010 punto evo 1400 multiair with 75000 km on it ,less than 4 years on the road .
After about a week of somewhat shaky idling,it was noticed in the garage that cylinder #3 had a wet plug .After 2 more days suddenly the car was shaking while running .cylinder number 3 had no compression. the multiair unit was taken off and this is what was seen : the thread of #3 was so worn that the cylinder/tube I'm holding simply goes off its place .
Looks like a production failure to me since this part is not moving and not supposed to wear at all .
Replacing the unit cost me a lot of money .
I'm curious how many of you had suffered such a failure in punto evo / alfa mito 1400 multiair
