“I love everybody at the Family House” - Jocelynn Poirier, 5-year-old liver transplant recipient.
Jocelynn rang the Chimes of Hope at Gift of Life Howie's House in celebration of her one-month liver transplant anniversary and voyage home! Jocelynn and her parents, Melissa and Ben, had to travel a long way from their home in North Bangor, NY to receive the best care for Jocelynn. Both her parents say they are grateful for the hospitality they received during their stay.
“I just remember how it was very friendly and hospitable. The facilities are great and clean, and it’s so convenient to be here,” says Ben. Melissa adds, “When we first opened the door to the room, we had to close it because I couldn’t believe it was real.”
Jocelynn was diagnosed with a rare liver disease called Alagille syndrome from birth, which causes symptoms like itching and bone fragility. Post transplant, she says that she is feeling better and excited to go home and play with her friends.
