I used to be so scared of growing up, now I am an adult myself and this is how I see things now.

As far as I can remember, I was always scared of growing up.
Like it was the worst thing that could happen to anybody.
Because I saw all these adults around me and all I could think was ''I don't ever want to be like that.''
I don't want to lose myself in a routine of waking up, working, falling asleep infront of the TV, until I wake up in the middle of the night to finally get into my bed, just to wake up and do the same thing again the next day.
It seemed like adults lost everything life was worth living for.
Riding bikes with friends, playing in the streets, watching your favorite cartoons, climbing trees, the list goes on and on.
Becoming an adult seemed like a world that used to be full of color, turned into black and white.
I was ready to go to Neverland but where is Peter Pan when you need him?
Well, you can't stop time.
I'm an adult now but what I have learned is that growing up doesn't have to be a bad thing when you keep the kid inside alive. THAT is the key to a happy life even as you get older.
We tend to forget the little things because as an adult life can get quite stressful with all these responsibilities we have, but like everything in life, it's about balance.
You can still go outside and swing on a swingset for 30 minutes straight if you want. Take a break and enjoy the candy bar that's been your favorite since you were little. Laugh, dance, skip around, laugh some more, do whatever feels good. Keep the child inside of you alive.
Growing up is not, letting go of that part of yourself. Being a grown up is living in balance with your inner child and all the things you've learned up until now.
Like a little companion you always carry inside. Don't take life too serious, because nobody makes it out alive. Might as well have a little fun in the meantime. Some may say ''but that's a waste of my time'' as everybody got so much stuff to do, places to be, things to take care of, but if there's one thing I've learned it's that ''the time you enjoy wasting, is never wasted.''
And your inner child will thank you for it.
