Hellofish’s double sided puzzle of Klimt’s “The Tree of Life” / “ The Kiss” includes whimsies depicting figures from Klimt’s “The Three Ages of Woman”, so there are essentially 3 works of Klimt’s art inside this one puzzle. The puzzle is designed so that the whimsy of the young woman is placed on the left side of the tree with the image that is supposed to symbolize “desire”, and the whimsy of the old woman is placed on the right side of the tree with the image of the embracing couple that is supposed to symbolize “fulfillment”. Perhaps as we mature we hope to feel more fulfilled in life rather than constantly desiring things. There is also a secret multi piece whimsy that replicates the embracing couple from “The Kiss” which also reflects the embracing couple in “The Tree of Life”, tying the two artworks together. In the later scene, the cat whimsies are highlighted to chase away the image of the black bird symbolizing “death” (since cats have 9 lives and often cheat death). Hopefully as we focus on love and fulfilling each other’s desires, we do not have to fear death.
