Welcome to Dancehall Tours a series where we interview artists about how cannabis plays a part in their music.
Today our host Pantason interviews rapper Jakal. Hubert Johnson, aka Jakal is a Jamaican New Yorker, having returned to Jamaica in 2012, he soon found a career rapping in the Dancehall capital. Jakal has had a slow entry on the music scene, however has dropped a steady series of singles in the past few years and collaborated with some major players in the game including, Chronic Law, Masicka, Jah Vinci, Rygin King, D’Angel and now Skillibeng.
Hip-hop and rap artistes are known to come from rough pasts, inspiring some of the greatest hits of the genre, says recording artiste Jakal, a deportee who speaks his reality without reservations. The plan, he explained, "Is to solidify my spot in the Jamaican music industry by continuing to present quality music on a consistent basis. I have stayed true to my form and I am gonna continue to do so."
