Floating the Salt River is a staple summer activity in Star Valley. It must be done! As often as possible IMO! It’s beautiful, (mostly) relaxing, and just a dang good time 💁🏼♀️
I usually float (on a paddleboard) through the narrows from the Auburn Bridge to Fish Fry but this year I tried a few different routes and here’s what I thought of each:
1. Auburn Bridge to Fish Fry - The prettiest and most adventurous. A mix of calm waters and very mild rapids. Just watch out for the willows!
2. Creamery Rd. to Swimming Pool Rd. (Featured) - The most calm and easy. This route is perfect for kids or anyone that’s not super comfortable on the water. The river is wide through this section so you don’t need to worry about running into the sides or getting caught in the willows.
3. Swimming Pool Rd. to McCoy Creek Rd. - I would describe this route is a mix of the previous two. There was one tough section where we should’ve went right when we went left but we all made it out ok! You float under the most beautiful covered bridge on this path which I love!
Enjoy!
