Rare Red Carpet Appearance for Daniel Day-Lewis, Who Debuts His New Haircut
An Actor in Retirement, His Wife, and His Son Go to the New York Premiere of "She Came to Me"
New York City's "She Came to Me" premiere saw the arrival of retired actor Daniel Day-Lewis, who made a rare public appearance on the red carpet. The 66-year-old Oscar winner was there with his wife of 25 years, Rebecca Miller, and their son, Ronan, who is also 25.
Actor Daniel Day-Lewis, famed for his roles in classic films like "Lincoln" and "Phantom Thread," debuted his new short hairstyle. He wore a Canadian suit to the party, which consisted of a gray denim jacket, blue jeans, and brown boots. He jazzed up his outfit with a string tie in turquoise.
Rebecca Miller, 61, glowed in an all-black costume of boots, a bag, and a manicure that matched her silky top and sequined pants. Ronan looked cool and relaxed in his usual garb of a white T-shirt and jeans.
Day-Lewis and Miller, who have been married since 1996 and have three children, Ronan, Gabriel-Kane, 28, and Cashel, 21, took their brood on a rare jaunt for the occasion. Since the premiere of "She Came to Me" in January, Daniel Day-Lewis has been keeping a low profile and was last seen in June, when he made news for his notably long hair.
Throughout his career, Day-Lewis took intermittent pauses from acting. Another hiatus in his illustrious career was the retirement he announced after the release of "Phantom Thread" in 2017. He told W magazine in 2017 that he was retiring because it was "something [he] had to do" and that the desire to leave had turned into a compulsion. Day-Lewis is still revered as an acting great.
