Her name is Dafne Schippers. The 22-year-old is from the Netherlands and on a cold, wet and windy Friday night she ran the fastest 200 meters this year by far to clinch a sprint double at the European Championships.
The thing is — she is a top heptathlete with world championship bronze to show for it, now trying out a summer of sprinting because a training camp in Florida showed she had amazing speed this year.
Britain's prodigious athlete Jodie Williams, who won 151 consecutive races as a junior, took the silver medal.
Williams produced her third personal best of the summer behind the sensational run from Dafne Schippers to overhaul France's Myriam Soumare for silver, with fellow 20-year-old Bianca Williams in fourth.
Schippers' brilliant 22.03 secs, the fastest time in the world this year and the fastest by a European in 19 years, belied her status as a heptathlete stepping down to the sprints for a year.
