Second plenary session: “How data impacts lives: towards a zero patients vision by 2030” at EHMA2019
The past 20 years have witnessed the seeds for the most transformative as well as challenging times in healthcare ahead. Artificial intelligence, digital therapeutics, gene therapy, the list of innovations with potential impact on health is never ending, and they hold great promise to diagnose, treat and at times cure patients more than ever before. And yet our postcode is still one of the greatest predictors of health outcomes, and health systems are under incredible financial pressures. Over the next 10 years we will need to focus, globally, on very specific key challenges to ensure that our health systems benefit from innovation at scale: digital health portability, biologistics, and live learning. If we can focus on these challenges globally in the context of a working and functional outcome driven financial model, we can build a 2030 “zero patients vision”, where most citizens have their health and wellness managed, rather than their sickness treated.
