Certified Child Nutritionist and Full Time Mom Aditi Nahata joins The Mom Store in our Expert Talk Series.
In our first episode is on What to Do If your Child is a Picky Eater, she talks about what are the tips that you should know if your child is a picky eater. A snapshot below:
1. Respect your child's appetite and avoid force feeding. This will result in creating an unhealthy relationship with food
2. You might be serving too much on the plate. Introduce few food at a time and don't overwhelm with a platter of different tastes and food. Give them time to adjust
3. They Might Just Like to Play All the Time and Not Eat. In such cases you can give them interesting cutlery that can make food interesting for them. For some options refer to [ Ссылка ]
4. After One Year growth rate slows in children, and they may need lesser food. So its perfectly ok if your child does not eat full portions.
5. Provide a Routine for Meal Time- Give your child a routine to eat the meal at same time everyday. Make an healthy eating environment such as dining table eating for the family, making this a family time and getting the child to respect food
6. Serve their favourite fruit or food in small quantities in every meal to encourage them to eat
7. Make Food Fun- Decorate the food on their plates and spin a story for the restless eaters!
8. Ask them to Help in the Kitchen so that they get more interested in eating something they have helped to cook. This could be kneading the dough, wash dals and pulses and any other age appropriate activity.
