Infertility is not only a personal problem but a social one as well. The male factor exists/co-exists in more than 50% of the infertile couples. This UROwebinar will enumerate and examine the genetic, environmental, lifestyle-related, and other causes of male infertility emphasising the pharmaceutical and surgical treatment of specific subpopulations of infertile males.
The UROwebinar will also cover major topics such as the surgical and experimental methods for salvaging reproductive potential in males with oncological disease. For the non-obstructed azoospermic men negative for testicular foci of haploid cells, in vitro-culture systems of diploid germ cells or ooplasmic injections of secondary spermatocytes and subsequent ooplasmic stimulation represent the targets of both clinical and basic research efforts.
In addition, the panel of experts will discuss the perspectives with genome editing and spermatogonia stem cell (SSCs) autotransplantation in the infertile male. After the transplantation of genetically modified SSCs, it has been shown that generated spermatozoa carried the modified gene and therefore, ethical issues should be discussed.
