In this video, I take the Canon RF 16mm f2.8 lens to the park and give it a thorough review. As someone who loves run and gun filming and vlogging, I was excited to try out this lens and see how it performed.

Throughout the video, I share my thoughts on the lens and its features, and showcase footage captured with it in a beautiful outdoor setting. I also discuss how I achieve a specific look from my RP using the Filmkit picture style and color grading my footage.

Disclaimer about how I specifically get my look:
When I'm out filming with my Canon EOS RP and RF 16mm f2.8 lens, I always attach a 5% diffusion filter by Moment to a step-up ring (43mm to 49mm) on the lens. This diffusion filter helps soften the footage that comes out of the camera, as I find the footage a little too sharp for my liking without it.

However, when using an ND filter on this lens, I have to be careful because the protruding filter and the wide angle of the lens can sometimes capture the edges of the physical ND filter. To avoid this, I have to zoom in my footage slightly. [111% on FCPX]

It's worth noting that I don't mention the diffusion filter in my videos because I always use it on my lenses. For example, I also add one to my Canon EF 16-35mm f4 lens. So, I don't go too deep into the details of the filter in my videos. But for those looking to soften the look of their footage, I highly recommend trying out a diffusion filter.

Lastly, I achieve this look on my RP using the Filmkit picture style, then color grading my footage.
